Indolent Books and editor Michael Broder are back with another poem-a-day series called Second Coming as a creative response to the threat posed to our democracy by the second Trump administration. The current plan is to continue for all 1461 days of the 47th presidential administration of the United States of America.
We are not using Submittable this time around. They are too expensive. Just attach up to three (3) poems in an email with a bio to michael [at] indolentbooks [dot] com with Second Coming submission in the subject line.

In lieu of a submission fee, we ask you to support the work of Michael Broder and Indolent Books by making a donation of any amount using this donation form BEFORE YOU SUBMIT.
Based on prevailing norms on platforms like Submittable and Duotrope, we suggest a minimum donation of $3.00. For those who want to contribute more, note that the form allows you to choose up to six Indolent Books titles from the dropdown menu as a thank-you gift, depending on your donation amount. But that is totally optional, and donation amount will never influence editorial decisions. REMEMBER, IT CAN BE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU WANT, BUT YOU MUST DONATE SOMETHING OR YOUR SUBMISSION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
EDITORIAL GUIDELINES from editor Michael Broder
The tone and register of Second Coming will be similar to that of Poems in the Aftermath and What Rough Beast. I encourage poems that deal with life under a burgeoning autocratic neofascism with wit, charm, and emotional depth. I continue not to be a big fan of political diatribe. As a matter of practicality to keep me from going insane with formatting on the website, I prefer poems that are completely flush left and have no extra spaces between words within lines.
