Olivia Borges
Mother / Rejuvenate / Quarantine Conversations
“stay inside” they say
as everything and everyone I love gets taken away
“it will be okay” they say
as the number of deaths increases
why should I listen to you when you never hear my voice, my opinions, my cries as the flames rise and burn me to ash
but don’t worry
I’ll come back
I always come back
I’ve never seen the earth flourish more
than when we are forced indoors
no one throwing trash on the ground
no more cars driving around
fish and swans in canals
dolphins saying hi to new pals
I hope this opens up minds
and people stop acting blind
wake up
it’s time to get ready
ready for being stuck inside all day
no, it doesn’t matter what you wear
no one will see you.
just make sure you eat something
I don’t need your help with anything today
I don’t know, do a puzzle or watch tv
