What Rough Beast | Poem for July 2, 2019

Michael S. Glaser
The Earth

We play with dark forces that cannot be captured with the names we give them.
—Rainer Maria Rilke

The earth remembers in a language
we have not bothered to learn.

What is the name
she has given this place?

Who do we imagine invited us
to this dance?
