What Rough Beast | Poem for June 30, 2018

Jonathan Rentler
how many sheeple does it take?

count the hungry eyes
the quick pic captures
by the wheat grass grazers

& what should one do
but howl at the moon

till man offers his crook
to rest your neck

& a place beyond pastures
for those born
golden-fleeced

a buzz & a whirl
as your jaw’s wretched
back, flank by flank
till shorn
