What Rough Beast | Poem for June 9, 2018

Jonathan Rentler
hands free steering

kept \’kept \;
verb of transitory nature

the gospel
according to Merr-
i.am.webster:

the past
of retention

of ones
possession
or power

skimsterz beware
for words
barb-wire minds
tissue pink
tearitories easily
parcelled off

supreamy
(rhymes with creamy)
civilizaich
(a sound like the forever a of ache)
dribbling off
your fly

a way is exit
before midnight chimes
for time’s keeper
is nobody

carriages swerve & squash
passengers, coachmen
pulped

all balls must end
wilted & soft
the bellies of bouquets
disregarded
till swept asunder

forget-you-not
midknights,
for the gold of your armor
is simply hay-spun
by goblin magik

till 12:01
when all is done
& i hope none
have gobbled up
your bread crumb
trail
